1997 dakota 2 wheel drive ????

My truck has been stalling. The RPMs speed up then go down, then it shimmys & shakes and dies. Put it in the shop and they said the PVC valve was broke, OK had it replaced. Now it is still doing the same thing. Took it in for an oil change and they said the belt tensioner is stiff and needs to be replaced. My question is could the stiff tensioner be the core problem for everything? I know nothing and am dependent on mechanics. I went to a different one for the oil change and didn't say anything about the stalling issue. If anyone can shed some light I would be very appreciative.

Are you getting any codes??

I'm thinking it could be the tbs sensor on the throttle body

thanks! I will check that with the mechanic, my check engine light never came on is that what you mean by codes? Should I spend the 250$ to get the tensioner done? or are they just giving me the run around?

Wait on the tensioner!! These mechanics are doing a guessing game at your expense!!

Try a new TPS sensor I think it's like $40, hopefully it will fix the problem. Or talk it over with your mechanic.
