soft brakes

I just had the rear end replaced on this Dodge, drove it for 1 month and the brakes are getting soft, checked fluid level it was very low,, did not have this problem until rear end changed...Do not see any leaks from cylinder or on floor mats, do not see any leaks near rear tires

Re: soft brakes

it's possible that when you had the rear end replaced the wheel cylinders or one of the wheel cylinders was bad. Also, check to be sure there's no fluid around the brake line on the backing plate of the brake drum.

Re: soft brakes

I suggest you fill up the brake fluid reservoir and drive for few days to see if the fluid level changes. Did you see any BRAKE/ABS lights coming on on the instrument panel? I just replaced 8 ft of brake hydraulic line on my 97 dakota due to corrosion damage. See my posting under the thread heading "brake trouble", if you ever need to replace the line.
