2003 Venture Brake Job?

I have always done my own brakes jobs on previous vehicles. However, I always had a haines book for assistance. I have 2003 venture with AWD with 30,000 miles. Why is there no published haines or chilton book for a 2003 venture? I want to replace all my brake pads (front and rear). Is there anything difficult I need to know about before I start? Or is it simply to remove the caliper bolts, pop the caliper off, swap pads, compress piston and re-install caliper and retaining bolts.

I worked on my neighbors laser once and there were springs and clips and all sort of weird stuff on that the caliper and pads.

From my experience, the montana/venture/silo dont have anything too fancy to the braking system. Its a pretty straightforward disc/drum setup similar to 90% of gms cars. Now for the ABS sensor, I do know that they are inside of the hub bearings on the front. Nothing too fancy. As well I know in Canada, Haynes Does make a book for the 3 sisters. Ive noticed tho, it can be very very difficult to find, so you might have to order it from Haynes online.

Re: 2003 Venture Brake Job?

A Haynes manual from an older model year should still work in most cases. On my 98 TS, the front calipers are pretty much a follow your nose job. If you've ever done a disc break job, you won't have any problems.

As to the Haynes manual, you probably won't ever see a manual for your year. It appears to me that Haynes has been dying in recent years. Each year, fewer and fewer new vehicles are available. There are only 4 '04 models and 10 '03 models listed as available on their website. Now granted that the '03s are just coming off warrenty and the shade tree mechanics will start working more on them, but it's still not a good sign. Even vehicles like the Venture where the bulk of the components have gone unchanged since '97, with more recent years not being listed...not a good sign.
