1998 complete electical shutdown but car runs

my 1998 taurus had a complete shutdown of all electrical items, radio, ac, dummy lights came on, speedo, tac and odometer stopped working, power steering lost but car engine ran and car continued to be driven? sounds like sci-fi to me. Help.

Look at the MLP sensor on top of transaxle. There are a lot of circuits that run through it.

Have ur ignition switch checked for overheating, contact Ford with the VIN number check for recall, there is one in Canada, for some burst into flames, conatct the NTSB or Transit Canada. If u bought it used give Ford all ur information for further recalls.
