91 Dakota no spark
I went out to start my 91 Dakota (V8, 5.2L) today but there's no spark and it won't start. It ran fine yesterday evening. The TBI is working and the engine is cranking but there is no HT output from the ignition coil. The coil has continuity, but I don't have my DVM nearby to check the resistance.
Computer codes as follows: 12 - Battery or computer recently disconnected 33 - Air conditioning clutch relay circuit open or shorted (may be in the wide-open-throttle cutoff circuit) 42 - 42 Automatic shutdown relay circuit open or shorted 42 Fuel pump relay control circuit 42 Fuel level unit - no change over miles 55 - End of codes All the fuses are good and the relays seem to be working fine. When I bought the vehicle I vaguely remember a friend of mine fixed a part of the wiring harness under the under-hood fuse box. The connection was very corroded. I cut the tape off the harness but the wiring looks pretty good in there. Any particular wire (color?) I should look at, or am I chasing the wrong thing? |

Re: 91 Dakota no spark
that code 42 is your problem the ASD relay circuit normally caused by a tripped ASD relay. Try replacing that and seeing what goes.

Re: 91 Dakota no spark
I've already swapped the relay, no go.
