2001 explorer sport door entry programming

Anyone have a clue where the numbers for the keypad on the door might be located on 2001 explorer sport? I checked some of the places listed for other models, but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 explorer sport door entry programming

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac, I found mine on a white box mounted behind the passenger side airbag. It takes about ten minutes to get to. You will need a 1/4" rachet with an 8mm socket and a 9/32" socket.

1. Open the glove box and push in both sides of the glove box so it can open all the way.

2. There will be two bolts with the 8mm head on them you will need to remove. This will loosen the the airbag for removal.

3. Unplug the wires to the airbag.

4. Look in the hole in the dash where the airbag was and you will see a white box mounted to what looks like the air duct with two 9/32" hex head screws.

5. Tilt the white box so you can see the top of it and their is your code.

After typing all this I do remember reading on the Explorer Sports this white box is locacted in the back either over the right or left wheel well behind the interior panel.

With all due respect, I wouldn't be doing anything with the airbag system.....if it inflates, the worst case is you lose your head, the best case you pay big bucks to have it put back together.
"Do it yourself" has limits.

On my 2001 Explorer the code was in the panel for the jack at the rear drivers side. Remove the cover and look towards the back seat area and the box with the code on it is there. Have someone pull out slightly on the side molding closer to the back seat and you should be able to read the code off the tag. Someone who has good eye sight and can read sideways.
