2001 Explorer .. high idle

My 01 explorer is idling high and the check engine light is on. Does anyone have a possible cause/remedy? It started after I turned on the A/C but it does it all the time now.

Thanks,

Don

Go and have the engine code pulled. Then search the code online to find out what it is you can usually also find a fix. Several things can effect you idle position.

...and expect the possibility of the code being A) IAC valve being bad, and B) this masking the fact that it's likely your upper and lower intake manifold gaskets being bad.

It's a common failing, and one that took me MONTHS to pinpoint. They're $12 dollar gaskets to replace yourself, or to $2-300 to have a shop do it for you, and the IAC is about $40 with no more than two (10mm?) bolts to remove in order to handle it yourself. Good luck!
