Taurus 2003 Keyless Entry Module Location

I purchased a used ford Taurus 2003 SE. I think SE comes with factory installed Keyless entry. However my card did not come with the remote. I tried the 8 times turning the ignition key and doors did lock. So I think the original owner might have removed the module. My question is where is this module located?

You typed that you turned the key 8 times and the doors DID lock? That would indicate that the module is there, but you probably just don't have any remotes. If you buy a new remote or two (up to four can be programmed) you will probably be able to program them just fine.

As for the location of the module, it sounds like by 2002 it was all part of the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) module. The GEM module is sandwiched behind the instrument panel junction block/fuse panel and the firewall. The manual makes note that when a new GEM module is installed, the configuration must be downloaded to it. If not, the GEM may set troublecodes.
