97 wrangler horn

I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.5 and a 5-speed. I opened up the hood one day and noticed that there were two horns mounted under the hood. They both looked factory installed. I unhooked the one and used the wires to hook up the other. I hit the horn and nothing happened, I figured oh well and hooked the original back up. I hit the horn again. Nothing happened. I checked the wires, fuses, etc. and they were all fine. Any ideas of what I messed up and how to fix it? I really don't want to mount another horn and put holes in my dash. Thanks.

I'd check the ground on both of the horns, make sure they're tight against the body. There might also be a relay or fuse under the power center on the right side of the engine compartment near the airbox.

I have the same jeep. My horns don't work. Both horns plug into the wiring harness. There are 2 wires to each horn on mine. They don't ground where they are bolted to the body. The fuse, relay and horns are OK. I took the horns off and checked each one with a spare battery. Next I will check the switch in the center of the steering wheel. Be careful of the air bag !!

first thing first, while pressing on the horn, anyone check for a lamp test or volt test..?? The first one, when you used the wires to pull the plug any chance of pulling the silver connector loose either from the back where the wire connects or backed out far enough to make contact with the other contact on the horn...
