Exclamation 2003 Kia Spectra Check Engine light

I've got a 2003 Kia Spectra and my check engine light came on. I suspect the gas filler cap wasn't clicked the 3 times, how do I turn this off without going to the dealer? The car runs great otherwise.

Thanks so much for your advice, it worked! We disconnected the battery and upon reconnecting it the light was off.
