US transportation bill

So they pass this bill, for 286 BILLION dollars. I'm not saying that maintenance and construction aren't needed, but I heard the tail end of a news program on Sunday.

It was irritating to find that there is 250 million dollars going out for a bridge in Alaska. It will join 2 islands, one with 50000 people, and one with 50. That's right fifty people. No roads go to these islands, they're served by air or boat. What a waste!!! Oh yeah, and the congressman will have his name on the bridge.

Most of this is a wholesale waste of MY and YOUR tax money.

You guys are TOTALLY missing the point. These are 2 islands. 250 million dollars to connect them. Waste of money. Same as much of the rest of the bill.

The only thing I will say is people call it pork when the money isn't spent in their neighborhood.

I'm against pork spending but within limits.

But in seriousness it's useless, not like we're doing much to make a long ass bridge to connect Hawaii to the US cause it's not worth it, just like this

You got that right! And I've heard that it doesn't "work as advertised" and traffic is nearly as bad as it was prior.
