GT2 is one of the loudest exhausts on the market... Exmag is one of the quietest.

Re: RS*R exhaust

does any one know if the RS*R Ex Mag in the long run will rust? I've heard that there is a more of a chance of it rusting than a full stainless steel system like the Greddy Sp2 or something.

umm it is a stainless steel system.
I've had mine on through two nasty upstate New York winters with road salt and god only knows what else on the roads, and theres just a little surface rust on the weld points, other than that the black paint wore off from road dirt hitting it but the metal underneath is shiny stainless.

PS: the welds have some surface rust due to the actual welding process. When stainless steal is welded it brings the carbon up to the surface which will allow some surface rust but no deep rust. really no way around it or so i've been told.

thanks for your input...i live in california so i guess that it won't be such a problem....and it's also good to know that it's stainless steel underneath, which i kind figured it would be. I 've heard that some people said that the only SS part of the RS*R Exmag was the tip, but i guess not. When you said the paint wore off, did you mean like little specs from rocks hitting it or like gradual fading.....i know that this sounds kinda picky, but i guess i really want to know as much as possible before purchasing any exhaust system.

Well I visit my family who lives on a dirt road alot and I also know alot of "short cuts" in my area that also happen to be dirt roads. So I think the main reason the paint wore off is from the massive dust plume my car makes when I do 60-70 mph on dirt roads. Also they use alot of salt and sand on the roads around here in the winter. I bought my car down in jersey and it was spotless, after being up here for 3 winters I have alot of rust. My trunk lid actually rusted through on me, hence why i'm in the process of stripping, sanding, filling and painting my whole car this summer.

Anyway yeah the piping is all stainless with a black paint covering it, like I said the paint gradually got worn off from the road dust/rocks/salt and the metal underneath is not rusting so it must be stainless because even normal galvanized pipe would have started to show rust by now. I don't know what grade of stainless it is but thats beside the point. So I highly recomend it, and seeing that the worst you will put it through is rain I think it should last you quite a long time.

cool, thanks again for your input...i'm still in debate between RS*R exmag or greddy Sp2, but i like the look of the RS*R because it looks more stock and the tip isn't huge like the greddy ...anyways thanks again and i'll post something when i get a cat-back system......

Oh, also if you have a pic or pics avail. , i would like to see them...but if not, no big deal.
