Toyed with a Civic LX

Well i just got back from a family thing and springfield. Well as some of you i got my permit thursday and ive been driving well. My aunt has a mitsubishi eclipse spyder and she let me drive. well on the way to the mall (when i was driving) i had been babying since i haven't been driving long and had never drove this car well this civic gets besides me(it looked stock and souded stock) and accelerated pretty fast and i looked over at my aunt and she said "Go for it buddy" so i dropped it into 2nd then floored it and shifted fast into 3rd and 4th and gained on him until i had 2 cars on him and to slow down because of red light and traffic. So over all i thought it was fun toying around with one even though im 15.

Beating a Civic LX is absolutely nothing to be proud of. But hey, it was one of your first actual street races. You're aunt does seem pretty cool to let you pull something like that in her car. I give you some props there.

Re: Toyed with a Civic LX

i think there r 2 major influences in youths street racing: adults in the family that hate driving fast, and adults in the family that teach u how to do it. fortunately i have the latter. theres nothin like learnin how to drag race from ur dad who did it in real cars 35 years ago. a civics not exactly the biggest trophy, but as long as u got family like ur aunt, there will be more. lol what kinda sick people r we encouraging a 15 year old thats been drivin less than a week to street race?

by racing such a slow car you really lost cause you wasted gas.

Doesn't sound like there was much to write about. I mean, a Civic LX is the heaviest Civic you can buy without getting an upgraded engine. Weight for the '97 LX is rated at around 2500lbs vs. 2300 or so for the DX hatch, and 2400 for the DX two or four door. Thus, it's the slowest. I've test-driven a few, and they are slooooooow. An Eclipse Spyder may not beat a Z28, but it's plenty quick to wax a stock LX. Hell, even my Malibu could dust a stock Civic LX. A Toyota Echo has about the same power as a '96-'00 Civic (except for the Si and EX), with far less weight(2050lbs). I've test-driven one of those, too, and let me tell you - a stock Echo is much faster than a stock Civic LX.

Plus this kid's writing 5k1llZ leave something to be desired, and maybe that's part of the reason it was so short. Another part of the reason he probably made it short was because it wasn't something huge or anything, a '98 Corolla w/automatic could've made the kill.
