pulled the fuel line to insure this is proper diagnosis?
you say running saturday; has it ever had this problem before?
owned the vehicle since '86? '90? or just purchased?
did you fill up recently? water in lines? fuel/water separator filter bad?

last time glow plugs cleaned and/or serviced?
three items for any internal combustion engine to fire:
air, fuel, spark
those would be the three things to start with.

hope this helps,
ctesla

Got a good one for ya, i used to work on military hummers, and if they run for a while and get hot the fuel will vaporize in the injector pump. so the easiest solution was to poor water over it to cool it down and condense the vapors back to diesel. worked good most of the time.

also if it has the electronic valve on top front of the pump, check for voltage there when trying to crank. this is the fuel shutoff and it is notorious for going bad. if all else fails take the fuel line off the top and the fitting. look inside or feel with a small screw driver and see is this little glass ampule in there. if there is you have a choice. you can break it and put everything back in place <it should work> or you can pull the pump off and get it rebuilt. it might cost $300. no one outside the military uses them anymore.

let me know how it works out.
