Tamiya Supra, help needed please

Please can someone tell me what colour the fuel tank should be on the Tamiya Supra? It doesn't say in the instructions. Thanks.

Matt

Here is the first mention of the chassis, with the fuel tank shaded to indicate that it is not the same colour as the body. However there is no colour assigned to it. Or is my eyesight extremely bad?

Re: Tamiya Supra, help needed please

looking at the shading schematic, I would have read that as X18....? MO but hard to tell with my eyesight and the scan

yep, either X-18 or X-1 (not much of a difference anyway).

when did u purchase youe kit? i bought mine originally when it came out about 93/94 and my instructions states the fuel tank is X-11 Chrome Silver - small print at bottom of instructions says 0493 ©1993 TAMIYA

if u bought yours within the last few years it may have been a reissue and instructions may have been changed

Re: Tamiya Supra, help needed please

Just to put in a few words, almost all fueltanks today have some kind of rustproofing or undercoating. Painting it X-11 ( silver ) mean replicating bare metal.. wich will rust quicker than you can say `thick black undercoating` .

but yeah it wouldnt be bare metal would it??? u wouldnt want your fuel leaking through a rusty tank?

some models like the Nissan Silvia and few others have silver tank with black straps/bars or black tank with a silver area for exhaust to protect from heat

all it is that i follow painting instuctions to paint all the parts whatever colour it correspond to apart from the bodyshell in which u can paint it whatever colour u want

Re: Tamiya Supra, help needed please

Thanks for the comments/help. Looks like it's going to be x-1 or x-18.
The number on the bottom was the same mbwoods.

Re: Tamiya Supra, help needed please

You mean instructions have the paint colors labeled? So that's what I've been missing!
