Buying Gas - My Montana is very picky
It seems that if I run a bargain price gas in my Montana it tends to stall. However, if I put Chevron in the tank it runs like a champ. A year ago I put Costco gas in the van and the next day it stalls 2 miles from the house. I put in a bottle of injector cleaner and fuel system drier and the problem went away. Switched to Chevron and had no problems for an entire year.... One day I stopped in to a local gas shop (had the cheapest around) filled up the van, and wouldn't you know it, the next day it started stalling. Went back to Chevron and haven't had a problem since....
Any thoughts about this? Is the bargain gas that bad, or is there something up with my van? |

Now.. Mine is the opposite. I know If I purchase Shell gas, it messes up my fuel guage, and after I have to use Gm's Fuel system treatment to clean it out. However I have put in low-test cheap fuel, and the van runs like a champ, and no oddball fuel guage..

Re: Buying Gas - My Montana is very picky
I don't know what gas the previous owner put in my 2000 Montana, but I only put Exxon or Mobil (regular grade).
I do this because my wife & I prefer to use our "Speedpass" when purchasing gas. There is definately cheaper gas in my area (Gulf is the one around here), but we prefer the convenience of the "Speedpass." So far, no complaints with them... |
