92 Astro started bucking like a bronco
Hello,
New member here with a new problem, yesterday, on my way home from work, I was sitting in the left lane waiting on traffic and when I went to accelerate, my van started shuddering hard. My first thought was that I lost a universal joint. Then I thought maybe the rear end had gone, but as I slowly gave it gas, it eventually got up to about 25 mph and when I let off the gas, it coasts very smoothly... Maybe transmission? maybe i'm way off and it's coming from the engine? My Astro has around 187,000 miles on it.... so it could be anything. Thanks for your help, in advanced. |

Well, I found the problem this morning, the bracket that holds the leaf spring to the axle is totally torn into, thus letting the axle shift and bind when you accelerate.
Just thought someone might like to know. Charlie |

I've heard of that happening once before. Pretty rare to see something like that fail though.
