92 Si Won't Start

Hoping someone can offer suggestions for my problem. Over the past month, my 92 Si wouldn't start initially. But after waiting several minutes from the first try, it would start. This happened probably 4 or 5 times. Now it won't start at all. It cranks and there is spark on all 4, but it won't start. I'm looking to tackle easier possible solutions first. Thanks.

Re: 92 Si Won't Start

Fuel pump is not priming. I didn't think to check since it was replaced awhile back. I'll check the main relay and go from there. Thanks.

Re: 92 Si Won't Start

I still need help. I replaced the main relay, but can't tell if the fuel pump is priming. With windows up in the garage, I hear a slight "wine" when I turn ignition on. It's real tough to hear though. Does that sound right for a Civic or should I easily be able to hear fuel pump? On my other cars, the fuel pump is real easy to hear.

Thanks, Green. I've read some of your other answers on other threads and you seem to be a real asset to this forum. I know I appreciate your help.

Turns out the pump wasn't priming. BUT, when I stomp on the gas pedal with ignition on, the pump primes after about 5 or 10 seconds - strange. After running the car for awhile, the pump primes right away. Any thoughts?

Yep......its leaking down somehow.

I am having the same problem

I have a guage and no fuel pressure.........Then out of nowhere it will crank and as soon asyou hit the gas it dies.........Sooner or later it will fire and stay running.

Re: 92 Si Won't Start

ill bet its a poreous fuel line somewhere (little microscopic holes that arent big enought let liquid gas molecules out but be enought to let gas vapors out..) so after sitting a while the line runs dry...
