jerking when acc/dec

Alright here's the deal: most noticeable in first and second gear of my 5 speed car, the car jerks badly when i release or apply the acceleration.. It feels like there is alot friction when the car cruises, and IMO it cruises quite badly when in first and second gear.. When i even just touch the accelerator, it jerks forward like i slammed on the gas or something.. This is only most noticeable in first and second gear.. Is this indicative of a common problem?

Re: jerking when acc/dec

Check your TPS adjustment and that an OHM meter shows a consistent change in resistance when it is connected to the TPS as the throttle is slowly opened and closed (engine off).
