d15b7 help

got a problem with my old d15b7, the damn thing is acting strange as hell. the problem is inconsistent, with it happening maybe once or twice a month. the thing turns over fine but acts like it isnt getting any fuel but yet you can smell the gas coming from somewhere. to get it started all i have to do is turn it over for a few seconds while holding the gas pedal down then turn the car off and let it set for like 30 minutes to an hour. itll crank right up like nothing ever happened....its the weirdest thing, it happens when its both hot and cold raining or sunny. another strange characteristic is the thing is idling really freakin low like at around 500rpm or possibly lower because the tach doesnt read that low and its hovering above the zero mark barely. it also has spells where itll bog down like its not getting any fuel and then the bam it just back up to where it was. this is confusing me, i am thinking possibly throttle positioning sensor or the fuel pump. i have a favor to ask...if anybody has a old d15b7 lying around thats a parts motor and would be willing to sell this t.p.s. off of it for a reasonable price please let me know...the dealership out here is outrageous. thanks

Have you checked your plugs recently? If not, then you should.

Re: Re: d15b7 help

the car was having this problem before i changed the plugs anyhow, it broke down again yesterday and took 3 hours of waiting to get it to start. a majority of the time the problem happens when the car is on a slight incline or decline and its not even that steep of a grade maybe 1 or 2%. i am going to change out the fuel pump after i get out of the field to see if this helps, if not...... i am trying to keep the car long enough for me to leave for iraq and then im parking it till i return and can swap the motor i just need it to last about 3 or 4 more months.
