2001 power seats
My 2001 max power driver seat is giving me problems, has anyone else had this or know what the problem may be?
The seat has been working fine until this morning when the seat stopped moving front to back, it will move up and down and tilt as it always has, the seat is stuck in the full back position. I was thinking that there must be a limit switch in the full front and back positions, and that this may be the problem. It's almost impossible to see what's going on under the seat while it's still installed in the car. It doesn't appear to be a blown fuse because the other motors work. Any suggestions or maybe a wiring diagram for the seat would be helpfull. Thanks Jeff |

Re: 2001 power seats
had the same prob on 200 maxima se. took the switch apart - it is totally mechanical. the contacts were burned. no way to repair. lots of small parts, springs. $140 dealer replacement part. I had to play with wires and got the seat to move forward until replacement came. No limiters.

2001 Power Seats
We have the same problem with our seat. We found that the wires are loose and when hit or touched is when this problem occurs. Haven't put it in the shop yet but once it becomes a real problem we definitely will.

Re: 2001 Power Seats
If it is still under warranty... do not walk.... run to the dealership.
I took the switch apart and saw that it was not repairable and very hard to re-assemble. There is a system of springs and ball bearings for contacts which reverse current flow. nothing sophisticated. Contact surfaces were undersize for the current (surfaces were charred), not to mention the lack of range limiters which put additional strain on the contacts. Thankfully, pretty well encased so no fire hazard. $140 dealer item. Wiring harness plugs right in. it is easier to remove seat (4 bolts) when replacing switch..... Quote:
