97dogecaravan takes 5secs/2nd crank to start

My 97Doge Caravan needs to hold the key for 5sec or crank a second time to able to start. The 97Doge just had been tune-up last month. The following parts had been replaced: spark plugs, checked spark-plug wires, fuel filter, fuel pump, new battery, new air filter, oxygen sensor, driving belt, air cond belt. But the problem is till there. However, after it started, the engine runs very smooth either idling or driving. There is no white smoke or oil burn smell. If i turn off the engine for a few minutes and start it again, then it has the same problem as beginning. I really need any of your opinions.

Hello,
I had a similar problem. Originally after it warmed up, my van bucked and kicked. It also had the same symptoms that after it would restart it ran smooth. It was recommended by a mechanic friend at a Chrysler Dealership to replace the Crankshaft sensor. I did and my bucking and kicking went away, however it encountered the exact same thing you are experiencing. After I adjusted it, the problem was gone.
On my 3.3 Town & Country, it was easy to get to with a couple of ramps. You need only a 10mm socket and a good hand to disconnect the cable. Don’t break the connector!!
However, yours may only need adjusting, as there is a slide on the sensor when you loosen the bolt. The sensor cost me $50.
Good Luck!!
