Unhappy Failed Smog

Hello, tried to get my car smogged yesterday (california, btw) and much to my chagrin it failed. running too rich. heres the scores
for the HC/CO/NO the scores are measure/limit

15 mph:
RPM: 1844
%CO2: 13.0
%O2: 0.6
HC (PPM): 234/147
CO (%): 2.35/0.88
NO (PPM): 1237/889
FAIL

25 mph:
RPM: 2865
%CO2: 13.3
%O2: 0.1
HC: 173/122
CO: 2.43/0.78 (Gross Polluter limit is 2.28 )
NO: 636/828 <-pass!
Fail - GP due to Carbon Monoxide

engine light comes on under heavy accel at freeway speeds occasionally

had codes scanned
code 1: O2 sensor
Code 16: fuel injectors

had valves adjusted after codes came out, killed codes, light still comes on

im thinking its the o2 sensor, i probably fouled it when i had my blown head gasket. fuel injectors seem fine, great throttle response.

any input/suggestions would be appreciated

Re: Failed Smog

code 1 means bad o2 sensor.. so try replacing that. when code 1 turns on i think it tells the car to run really rich.

Re: Failed Smog

Go to the auto parts store and buy a $17 oxygen sensor and hook it up tight (solder if possible) and cover up/protect all your extra wire. Check your fuel injectors to make sure they're not leaking. Reset the ECU. Go back to smog and pass...

Re: Failed Smog

also... this may sound lame but i was running way to rich and besides doing a basic tune-up i put a little bottle of this stuff in my gas and drove it for 60 miles and it cut my numbers in half. It's called RxR (i think). On a web site people said it worked awesome so i figured what the heck, it's in a tiny red bottle next to the fuel injector cleaner crap in the autoparts stores. I bought mine at Autozone.

Re: Failed Smog
