electronic performance parts???

Hi All
I have a 1994 Ram 1500 with the 5.9. I was wondering if there are any performance (and economy) chips or programmers available for this year truck? I have looked without any results on Google. Everything seems to be for 96 and later models. Also, I am familiar with using the key switch to access trouble codes, but was wondering if there are any scanners or code readers that will hook up to this truck? OBD II's wont hook up. The dealers all use a DRB scanner, and that is too much cash to lay out just for personal use. Everything is stock right now except for a K&N air filter, but I intend to improve on the intake and exhaust air flow. Seems like (from all of the older Dodges that I have owned) that a healthy 360 should boil the tires but I barely chirp them, although the truck seems to run out OK. I have 3.55 rears and 265/75R16 General All Terrain LT's. To the best of my knowledge I do NOT have the posi or limited slip diff. Any help is greatly appreciated. BTW, I am averaging about 11 to 12 miles per gallon. Seems a little low compared to the older trucks I had that used carbs.

there are code readers that you can buy for the early gen 2 rams, but if you already know how to get the codes by turning the key, there's no point in forking out the cash for one. unless you spend a couple grand for one, it won't do anything more than spit out the code numbers just like you do by turning the key. you can use them to clear the codes but you can also do that by disconecting the battery for a little while. i wouldn't recommend a code reader. waste of money in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply and the info. I was hoping that I could find a scanner that would PINPOINT the bad part rather than just give a code for the affected circuit. I guess Mother Mopar thinks that would be too easy huh? Thanks again...........take care
