'94 s-10 starter replacement
I'm new so please bear with me. I am trying to replace the starter in my s-10. It is a 4.3 V-6 4x4. I have removed the bolts and a stabilizer bar. I still cannot get the starter out. I have read several threads that talk about it, but I am not good with names of parts. I am pretty mechanically inclined and if I can justfigure out how to take the old one out, I am sure I can get the new one in. Please Help and be as basic as possible in the instructions.
Thanks |

I just removed the starter on my 91 S10 Blazer and all I removed was the starter shield which covers the bottom half of the flywheel at the bottom of tranny. I didn't have to removed the stab. bar as the manual suggested. It's a tight fit, but I got it out. Good luck!!!!!

95 S-10 4x4 4.3 5 Speed
I too am having problem removing the starter.
So far I have removed the clutch cyl., disconnected to right motor mount, jack engine up tight to firewall, about 2.5 inches, rolled it around, turn it end for end and it still will not come out. My next move is to disconnect the left engine mount and jack to whole engine up. Does anyone have any idea's before I remove the engine. My son is a mechanic and he said he has never seen this before. Usaully it is just roll it around and it comes out, Not so on the 95 with 5 speed transmission. gsl |

Re: '94 s-10 starter replacement
I did it. Removed the Fly wheel cover and took out the starter and put the new one in. No problem. The worst part was the wiring. Tight fit to turn a nut, took some time, but its complete.

95 s-10 4x4 five speed
Automatic's are easy but the standard with five speed transmission are hard.
Finally got mine change after removing the motor mount and jacking the engine up about 2.5 inches. Had to take it out between the manifold and the frame, impossible any other way unless you remove the left motor mount and jack the whole engine, problem is you can not even see the left engine mount unless I remove the power steering pump and a lot of other stuff. gsl |
