2001 Audi A6 2.7T thoughts and opinions needed

So while researching I have come to find two things:

Audis are so much more in Michigan than Indiana or Illinois I have to drive a couple hundred miles to buy mine.

The turbo seems to be the most important thing on the car because when it goes bad, it's mucho dollars.

I am really tempted to get the 2.8 but I really want the extra speed and I'll take damn good care of the car. I see you have to warm the turbo up and cool it down but is there anything else I can do to the car to make it more sturdy enginewise.

Every review I read is either hit or miss with their car...mostly hit but when it misses the car is in real bad shape...I think I would have to buy an aftermarket warranty to make sure the turbo was okay but what do you all think?

Appreciated...
