Just what I wanted to hear SaabHohan, The prediction of diesal engine performance. What in hecks name does a diesal have to do with the subject?

I think I've picked up on the STS's concept.

Placing the turbine close to the exhaust utilizes the change in temperature to spin the turbine, while STS's utilizes the pressure that has been created by the change in temperature that took place way up near the engine. The only flaw I see with STS's design, might be lag on smaller engines, unless smaller diameter piping is used to create more velocity and/or pressure.

Am I getting this right Gringo?

Lee. This is for your eyes only. Any response to it other than from you will be ignored.
Think of a air compressor. Without a tank , generally won't keep up with with the tool being used, so a tank (accomulator) is placed in line to store the pressure so it's there is pressure there when needed.
Now with a glove on your hand place your hand over the exhaust pipe and feel the pressure build. What you have is a 12-15' 3" diameter accomulator storing energy for the turbo.
If you want to take this further and have a turbo laying around, take a air hose with a nozzle and blow it onto the turbine blades and see what happens.
The difference being a compressor only has +- 3 cu in, where as the automotove engine has 50 to 100 times more volume than the compressor.

That's what I was referring to, just couldn't find the right words. But still, what about for smaller engines that don't move as much air? Would smaller exhaust piping help?

Damn now you've asked a question I've never tried and I really can't answer, but I know if you use a smaller turbo for the smaller engine that should do the trick.
I suggest you contact STS and ask them. It's right down there alley.
