Re: oil pressure sending unit....

i found the oil pressure sending unit on top of the oil filter...well i think i did seeing as i dont know what it looks like, but i saw a whit thing that screwed into the top of where the oil filter was, and it had a wire attached to it, i followed that and sure enough it went into the dash, im pretty sure that it is the oil pressure sending unit, but can someone confirm this for me?

the other one should be on the end of the head above the transmission. it should be just above the water outlet that goes to the heater. they look like the head of a bolt, something like 3/4" across, with a plastic insert that has a male electrical connector tab in the center.

I had the same problem and just replaced the one above the oil filter and it still does the same thing. What else could it be making the oil light come on every time i rev to 2000rpm and occasionally when it sets at idle

Re: oil pressure sending unit....

replace the one above the tranny, i talked to my VW dealership and they said one is for high pressure and one is for low pressure, and he said to also change both at the same time, but make sure you buy them from Volkswagen, they have the right parts, and they only cost me about $8 CND for the part
