engine cuts out on accel at 2000 rpm intermittent

I recently bought a 1995 wrangler yj with a 2.5 4cyl. I am intermittently having a problem with the engine cutting out on accle at almost exactly 2000 rpm. I have replaced plugs, cap, rotor, ign. wires pickup module and even the crank sensor and it seem fixed for the first couple of days after replaceing the crank sensor but is now acting up again and starts after driving a couple miles. Does anyone have any ideas, any help greatly appreciated.

Re: engine cuts out on accel at 2000 rpm intermittent

Does it happen in every gear?
How exactly does it act?
Does it cut out quick, like electronics?
Or is it slower like fuel or air?

Thanks for replying it gets worse the longer you drive it but I think we may have found the problem but I am waiting for a computer control module to come in. It would lose power to the ignition (the tach would drop then pop back) and finally today it quit altogether I mean no dash indicators (ck engine light) or anything unless you wiggle on the harness going to the computer then every once in a while the ck engine light will come on but it will only crank. I have already installed 2 new factory crank sensors a new pick up module and ignition coil and then even a new distributor which included another new pickup module. Plugs cap and rotor wires all less than a week old as well. It has alway felt like an ignition problem because it happens sudden and it has happened while fdriving with a fuel pres. guage and I didnt lose pres. What do you think?
Thanks
Bobby

I think you're onto it with the computer; if you jiggled the wires like that and it caused a problem, likely it's either a loose connection or the computer itself.

Might pay to hook up a diagnostic computer to it.

I think youve narrowed it down pretty well. You might ant to know that the dash cutting out is very common on wranglers, and might not be directly related to your other problems.
