I have a 88 GXL RX-7 with a medium weight reduction(carpet and padding gone, air pump gone, air silencer gone, windshield washer resivoir gone, fan shroud gone) pacesetter headders, 2.5" exhaust and 4" mufflers. the car just got new wires, plugs, fuel pump and fuel filter, it also has a custom cold air intake.....can stay up with a 05 mustang gt easily. i will throw in up to 1000 bucks also...pm me or call 254-640-6349

Put your fan shroud back on, its not a good idea to remove something that preforms such a drastic cooling effort on cars known for there coolant related problems.
There is no way this car can keep up with an 05 stang if a stock TII has trouble. Also, put the air pump back in htere if you dont have a fuel controller, your just killing the cats by dumping to much fuel into them without allowing them the proper chemical reaction to remove the HC's from the exhaust gasses.
Sorry to jump on your thread like this, but i cant stand blatent misinformation being posted about my cars :P

Re: Texas-WTT:88 GXL RX7+cash for s4 TII

Good to hear.
If you dont require emmissions stuff then thats a good thing. Remove it all, makes diagnosis of problems so much eaiser. The only reason i mention the cats is if your secondary cat decides to get clogged you risk overheating the exhust. And that can cause fires (rotarys are know for such things).

The fan shroud, not the biggest deal. But wiht it in place the stock clutch fan will only draw air through the rad rathere than chop the ambient air around. Just helps with cooling. If you are running normal temps without i would not worrie to much. I usualy recomend my customers run an electric fan. You can pick up cheap ones from a wrecker. Try to find a Feiro. There stock electric fan is just the right size.

Im sorry if i come off as a jerk. Im not trying to. Its just difficult to give information over the interenet and express your attitude towards it. Often it gets takes in the wrong way. So if i came across that way at all, sorry.

O and the rotary god thing, thanks. But im just a small pebble making a little ripple in a big pond.

Re: Texas-WTT:88 GXL RX7+cash for s4 TII

i raced my friend in his dads 05 gt.....he pulled real strong off the line, dont get me wrong he got me by half a car, by the time we were done my front bumper was even with his mirror.....he pulled ahead through first, second was dead even, and third was dead even.....after going about 95 on a bumpy road we gave up......by the way its all about weight, my car is about 1000 pounds lighter, that makes a big difference, horse power is not everything, especially when its a bloated ass american "muscle" car. RX-7s a light and nimble, perfect all around car.

even still if its lighter that sounds like a lot like the driver of the stang didn't really try or something like that. and i dont wanna be a dick or anything but next time your selling a car it is a good idea to not admit that you race it or anything like that, generally thats like selling a car that you are admitting was driven very hard, just saying the fact that you raced the mustang can say that you've raced before, it just doesn't sound very good noone wants a car that has been driven hard, and/or could be damaged because of this.

Re: Texas-WTT:88 GXL RX7+cash for s4 TII

05 GT 1/4mile, 13.8sec
88 GXL 1/4mile 16.5sec
87 Turbo II 1/4mile time 15.2sec

Now take the fact that the RX7's are 18 years old into account. Suspention components arent working as well as they did when originaly tested. Motors not making the same power, diffs not working the same. You may as well add another second or 2 on there.

As for the race you had, sounds like your friend wasnet going for it or is a very bad drive.

Re: Texas-WTT:88 GXL RX7+cash for s4 TII

he might have sucked at driving it....i just call it how i see it, yes i took my car to the track twice, raced on the street about 10 times, but who hasnt....if you have an rx7 and say you never raced anything youre probably lying.....my car ran a 15.3 and that was before i gutted it and put the headders on....that was with straights and CAI.

come on now fellas, lay off the guy. It dosent really mater what he ran, the truth of it is that the car will not get sold on these forums because the majority of people live no where near him. So lets kinley let the thread die.
