Re: WIP: 1/24 Fabia WRC reji model
Going fine, much quicker then me, I was banging my had with every drop of glue
![]() I did this rear part like this, you notice that when you put it in possition there is a gap betwin chasis and that part where the spare goes, so I trimed the part under the fire extinguishers to make it all little lower. At the end part with spare wheel was sitting flat on the chasis, maybe it should go a little bit more but the most important thing for me was that the spare wheel is not to close to roll cage. |

Hello,
toaday's update is here. Nothing very special, I go on slowly... but I go on ! ![]() I put some aluminium on central tunnel (paper inside cigarettes "box" - I don't remember exact english word, sorry), that represents warm isolation in the real car. there is some on engine panel and all around engine but of course I won't do it in the model ! I just put too the one behind dashboard and pedals. Dashboard changes are done and part is black primed ! nothing to do any more but... making details on it ! I feel coming a real part of pleasure to put each metallic button... I've already noticed there are three different colors to apply on dashboard... body is a mix of 80% black and 20% dark grey (to represent the synthetic material of it) caps are black (but representing same material normally) central part is black brillant. I think I will need many hours or even days to finish it ! moreover I have all elements under it to scratch build... But that's the way I chose for this model ! bye Phil Last edited by rallymaster; 12-24-2005 at 08:37 AM. |

back !
Hello all,
well, after too many long days too much busy for modeling, I am finally back with update ! I am still working on the inside, the front of the car exactly. Photo 1: You can see I added the last parts of aluminium isolation between inside of the car and engine room. to make it more accurate and realist I brushed the top of it with a mix of burnt bronze and dark aluminium (boltgun metal) from Citadel colors. that gives the heat effect on the part and seems almost as exact as in real car (according to my photos that you can see up there in the thread). The reji part representing pedals was completly false: - he had first to be inverted cos' pedals aren't fixed by their top but by their bottom. - pedals arms aren't curve like reji did it, but in line. - real left pedal (clutch) is taller than reji one, and brake one is larger. that's why I completly scratch rebuilt all the part, with rest of resin tree from the kit (especially for that reji is interesting ! ) or paperbaord (red pedal on the photo and pedal arms), fixing pedals on foot support under pedals and adding the one on the left of the part.(part doesn't fit well yet because it's not glued at this time, I just placed it like this for the photo). Photo 2: I started to work on dashboard, I decided to make it the most realistic as possible. I painted the three colors, added a scratch made red switch cover (of engine start button I guess...?). I am now ready to put each metallic switch that I would probably make with burnt and stretched plactic tree (do you see what I mean? I can try to explain more precisely if not). I will put switches on dashboard as soon as possible and go on detailing the inside depending on photos and videos I am still trying to find or review... still a lot of work and hours needed, but I hope still a lot of updates for your pleasure ! thanks for reading Bye Philippe Last edited by rallymaster; 12-24-2005 at 08:41 AM. |

Nicely done, you should realy considere this babies , they are excelent, the major problem when adding stuff like switches is base of the switch, if there is no base they will look like crap because of the hole.
Pedals finnaly look like the real thing, Reji realy messed those up. |

Hello all, or... hello Sasa?!
It's high time to update this thread ! Thanks you Sasa for this link, but I don't really want to spend more time or money purchasing some more TK or material... Reji kit is enough expensive for me, I prefer try my best with scratch skills. of course some little pieces hard to make would be appreciated, but most of my kits are costing me more than reasonable due to the lot of things I add to the kits... let's see what I'll be able to do by myself ! I couldn't really find much time or energy to work a lot on the kit, weather is warm in France and I don't really like too much heat for working, then after a lond day of work I am tired on the evening, moment where I use to work most on my models ! but here is something new: I glued the new scratched made part representing pedals, and I add a little "bottle"?? behind, perhaps a oil tank for brakes system...? now I have to place the under-dashboard rollcage part, and a lot of electric wires, hoping they aren't only there in test car... and dashboard itself is still waiting for me ! ![]() thanks for reading Bye Philippe Last edited by rallymaster; 12-24-2005 at 08:45 AM. |

This is looking very nice indeed. I do like the bolt down idea. The updates are a great read. It's nice to read how model builders are going about building there models, as we can learn from this, and I hope when others do the same, you can learn as well..
Keep going, it's looking very good. |

Re: WIP: 1/24 Fabia WRC reji model
Phillipe - thanx again for the photos!
Great job here - love it all and that paint job looks like a nightmare to do ![]() Dumb question: wouldn't that bottle you put behind the pedals intefere with the clutch?

Re: Re: WIP: 1/24 Fabia WRC reji model
hello,
thanks guys for your kind words and encouragements to go on... Updates to come !! Yes Mickbench, I try to put a maximum of informations and explanations about what and how I made... that's what I expect to find in each thread I look at, to find some skills or methods to learn or improve mine. don't mind asking me any questions if something is not clear (or if my english becomes hazy...! )Quote:
the bottle I put behing the clutch pedal could be too close of it, that's right... but not really in fact, even if it's not very clear lookind at the photo, there is enough place cos' pedal itself is upon the bottle and only pedal arm is really in front of the bottle... Moreover I had to do with the place I had... so not very much ! in fact I think that the problem comes from the too narrow inside between the wheels, which is larger in the real car and isn't so straight from top to bottom but really round as wheel form. (wow that may not be really good english but I can't find my words this evening...) that's according to me one of the worst thing in the kit and in kit in general, seats aren't very often enough in front of pedals !! : but a kit is not a real car, and I decided to put a maximum of details, so let's accept it as it is...! thanks for reading Phil Last edited by rallymaster; 07-21-2005 at 04:31 AM. |

no, it hadn't been asked yet. I Bought it on the Web, in Belgium, at MG modelisme. http://www.mgmodelisme.be/ I paid 200 euros for 2 kits, then shipping was free ! hope this will help you ! Phil (sorry I am late for updating this thread, but i don't really have time for modelling for the moment - big event with my rally association to prepare, and holydays at german rally too !!)
