Engine Question

Hey guys, i have a small quick question, i dont know jack about cars so id appreciate any info!

Im looking at bying a 95 Coupe, and the guy in the book (car mag) says its a 1.8L DOHC Vtec...

Id just like to have any info on this engine. (specs)

I also check out the car and it was really clean, and the engine spick and span, and he also has all the receipts of maintenance and care, im testing it tonight.

Anything i should look for tonight while testing?

Thanks guys!

Re: Engine Question

if it is a b18c its either the b18c1 or b18c5, the C1 is out of an integra GSR and the C5 is out of the integra type r. the c1 has somewhere arounf 172hp and the c5 has some where around 190hp. and if he swapped the engine himself, look for signs of jerry rigging it (bad wiring... missing bolts) and with such a high performance engine, he prolly gave it its far share of abuse, so watch for signs of that.

Thanks for the replys!

I went to see the guys yesterday evening, and its actually a GRS Supercharged DOHC VTEC, and he has all the receipts on evrything that was ever done on the car, a log book on what was done (maintenance, lubing, oil... etc)

pretty much, the car is well maintained, with upper and lower stab bars in the back, and front, new suspension that can be tighten or loosen (dont remember the make), lots on new custom parts on the engine which like i said is spic and span clean...

When we took it for a ride, that baby can run like crazy, when pumped the second gear, i could feel a pressure on my body like crazy, its was so fast (i never been in a fast car like that b4 so thats why im really impressed! lol )

So, i really think im getting it, and maybe you will think the price is high (7,900 CAN) but i dont think i will find another seller with all the car history on hand and a so well maintened car, with spares winter parts included, certified and e-tested (ontario).

What do u think?

i would also... and plus, all of the spare parts you are getting are probably going to be stock parts he took off the regular engine or stock parts the the b18 that has been replaced with performance parts, and your not gonna wanna put stock parts back on the engine... unless he has a crapload of perfromance parts just chillin around his crib, lol

Re: Engine Question

I would never buy anyones project car, especially if it has any kind of forced induction. Just because it runs good now, doesn't mean it's not going to blow up in a week.

Yeah your probbly right about the parts, i know he suggested in winter to change the suspension parts, for obvious reasons... For the rest of the parts im not sure what they are, i dont remember...

About the compression test, what is that exactly, i know he showed me a comparaison chart of before and after, could it be that? if not, can u explain to me what it is?

Thanks again!
