Remove shift knob

how do you remove the shift knob from a manual '00 firebird?

Um, you turn it left. As if you were loosening a screw. That actually applies to any manual car, if I'm not mistaking.

well i got it off, had to use a big set of pliers though, and the new one doesnt fit...guess i wasted $16
