Yeah, I'm right there with you; I've never paid more than $15 for a t-stat on any vehicle (honda, mitsu, lots of SBC's), and I thought this was EXTREMELY high. Unfortunately, some ass clown in GM's engineering department thought it would be a good idea to build the t-stat into the water neck on these (99-02) trucks. The newer engines went bact to a design similar to the old one as far as I know.
