Motor Mounts for 1998 PA Ultra

Hi guys.
Unfortunately I have to change my motor mounts because the engine rocks back and forth. 152090 Mi on the car.
My question is how many motor mounts there is? and how much would the parts cost. Is this a big issue and has to be fixed immediately or this can wait?

Usually, the front transmission mount fails before any of the others. It takes all the engine torque! This particular mount will cause the motor to bounce around and make a large bumping sound with sudden acceleration. The mount has an interlocking mechanism, which even if the rubber part separates; it will not allow the engine to move enough to cause any damage. The part cost less than $40.00 and usually in stock at most major part stores. Any shop with the right tools, should be able to replace it in about ½ hr. Also, if you buy one with a lifetime warrantee, the next time it breaks, just take the old one back for a replacement.
I am working on my 3rd replacement on my Ultra!!

Thanx for the answer. I just want to make sure that this is the only mount that has to be changed.
Also, How much would all the mounts cost?
My mechanic told me that all 3 mounts changed would cost me $750 with labour. Is it a good price?

My car shakes when I accelerate hard but I was told it was the tranny, I will have someone look at the mounts and post my results.

Re: Motor Mounts for 1998 PA Ultra

Actually you have four mounts, three on the bottom and the "dog bone". Using the Anchor brand listed below, it would cost you $302.00 in parts. It is not an easy job changing all the mounts, however I don't see $450.00 in labor for the job. It should take no more than four hours to change them all. Ask your mechanic if you buy the parts, how much would he install them for. I prefer the Pioneer brand listed at the bottom, since they are cheaper & have a lifetime warranty. The Pioneer 622800 (Anchor 2800), is the transmission mount prone to failure.

Re: Motor Mounts for 1998 PA Ultra

I forgot to mention, the way to test for a broken front transmission mount. Have an assistant start the car, set emergency brake, hold down tight on foot brake and put car in drive. Bring engine RPM up to approximately 1500, while you watch the mount for separation where the rubber is bonded to the metal. If it is broken, it will rise up about ½ inch. The one prone to failure is located on the driver’s side, front of engine where the transmission and engine join.
