How do i get rid of exterior swirl marks?

I recently used used a rubbing compound on my car by hand to get rid of swirl "scratch" marks (im guessing they got there from when i wax the car by hand) but it just made them worse. When the car is in the right light it looks horrible. How can i get the paint looking good about with no swirl marks? Am i going to have to get it perfessionaly buffed or does it need to be re-painted or what?

Re: How do i get rid of exterior swirl marks?

never use rubbing compound to get rid of swirl marks, thats only gonna make worse ones. Rubbing compound is a more course compound to get rid of deeper scraches. Your gonna want to go to an auto body supply store or possibly order off the internet, swirl remover.Basically its a very light polishing compound. I am a detailer and have to deal with swirl marks every day but there are some very good polishes made to get rid of them. Its also hard to get rid of them by hand but you might need a buffer and i would recomend not to waste money one the cheap ones for 10 bucks but to get a better one. Or you can always bring it to a detailer and that would be the easy way.Good Luck
