Question sub specs

I have been confused about some sub specs. First up, I have noticed that many subs have their frequency response anywhere from 22Hz to 2kHz. This means that the subs are able to play safely without distortion in that range right? But then I found that all amps have crossovers maxing out at 200 Hz. So that basically blocks out anything above 200. I have also read that subs are able to play midrange too... but that isnt possible because the crossover stops that right?....=/ Can anyone explain how they work? thanks

Re: sub specs

ok first off a sub can really play anyhting in thta range and its all sound waves. as for the distortion factor well thats cause my ground loops or a half ass deck sendign a crap signal to your amp or playin to to loud. as for the cross over well it really doesnt block otu anyhtign above it. more so below it. but really a cross over shouldnt be set at 200 hz alot of subs require a ranged mount on the cross over and bass boost so its really on there to match subs and amp.

most mono channel amplifiers come with low pass crossovers right? i always thought low pass crossovers blocked out the frequencies above the crossover point (i.e. 200 Hz) because the sub wasnt meant to play them.

many single channel amps have low pass crossovers right? so arent they supposed to block out frequencies below (ie 200 Hz) what you select?
