if you are going to turbo it then you should go with a b18c and not the type r motor. reason why is because if your not beefing up the internals then the b18c has lower compression than the b18c5, so this way you'll be less likely to ruin your motor

If you want to just do drag racing that is cool but if you like the whole road racing deal or drive a lot you want to go with a b-series motor.Like some of the others have said you will have problems with the axles binding(smashing together)which can equal busted axles.Good luck with what route you choose.

The ride is just fine. You can also have A/C in your car. Check out this link. It is a personal friend of mine. He has an Integra with a H22a swap and A/C.

i agree with jdm db8.......if your car is going to be a mostly drag car......an h22a has no contest.......a lot of pro import drag racers have h22 mills in their cars........stephan papadakis has 'em in both of his cars........and i've seen a DAILY DRIVEN TEN SECOND BOOSTED H22 CIVIC HATCHBACK..........i have also heard about the crazy understeer but as long as you don't cut her loose on the highways, i don't really see a problem?.......unless of course, you want to road race like db8 stated........

I'm just wondering but how many of you have actually experienced or rode in a H22a civic? If you haven't, don't say anything.

I would just spend the at least 4500 it will cost afer the suspension and engine stuff, and just build up your stock engine, and turbo that or something. a turbo B18C5 will be so much momey by the time you get it in there. |

My friend spent about 6 months putting together figures for all the pros/cons of a few engine swaps, talking to several shops and engine importers. He actually ended up going with the friendly LS-Vtec hybrid, because the cost was great for what he ended up with. The H22A shouldn't be counted out if you really want to do it, but he said when he inquired about such a setup, all of the shops recommended against it, but didn't say they would turn the job down. The difference is simply the amount of trouble you're going to go to getting the engine to fit in with accessories such as AC, PS, etc... Someone mentioned a kit, but there's more of an investment there I'm sure, and someone asked about radiators. In my experience, you can definitely buy aftermarket radiators that are rated better than stock ones, which are still much thinner. Anyway, swapping something like a B16A-2, LSVtec or a B18C (at the inflated price) is just going to be easier. They probably won't necessitate dropping money into your suspension/engine accessories right away. I don't think there's such a thing as an "impossible" engine swap. People have put a V8 into a Ford Focus, so it's all just a matter of how much time and money you have to invest. Personally, I think if you sit down and weigh out all the factors like time/money versus the end result, you'll find that the H22A is not the best choice for a daily-driven Civic, but if you were looking for a boring daily driver, you probably wouldn't be contemplating the swap anyway.
Good luck! :flash: C

Ok Ok this is an old post but I got to reply to it. A H22 into a Civic or CR-X is very doable, and its not that bad. There is no understeer and the H22 is not to heavy. A B-series engine setup weighs 300 lbs and the H22 weighs 385. that’s not that much more. A good set of springs and shocks will compensate for the added pounds. BTW I speak with experience here I have a 91 CR-x with a H22 turbo in it. The only problem I have is torquesteer. But its not that bad

listen ive gota eg civic hatch that has the h22a! GO FOR THE SWAP YOU GET BRUTE POWER AND CRAZY AMOUNTS OF TORQUE! BUT, (THATS A BIG OL' J-LO BUTT) YOUVE GOTTA DO MADD SUSPENSION WORK. when i had gotten it done in the first place the shit was understeering like a bitch once i hit 7o mph. but now that i had tuned the shit outta my suspension i hit 1o sec. Eazy ina 1/4 mile (ALL MOTOR), and i only get underateering once i hit 13o mph!
