new cv joint clicks

I just installed a new passenger side cv axle...since my old one the boot fell off and dirt got inside...it has been great for a month..and now all of a sudden every so often i get a click when shifting from foward to reverse...it dies it occasionaly not all the time, my question is, could it be the axle moving and the c-clip clicking in and out..or does it sound like a bad axle..its really weird and hard to explain its not the typical cv joint click.
