Heavy Duty Oil Detergent?

Hey, i'm new to this forum and need to help a buddy out whom has a 96 es300.
Question is: What heavy duty oil detergent should i use? Engine needs some cleaning out he has some buildup at the top of the motor and I wanted to clean it out as much as possible with liquids

any one here know how i can do that?

A very experienced mechanic has recommended to me one quart of Dextron ATF instead of oil in the crankcase. He has always run his cars with this mixture in the crankcase and found it works very well at keeping things clean. ATF has a high detergent content.

Also to keep your engine clean you can use the oil they use in Diesel engines. Has a high detergent content.

Best used on already clean engines with fresh gaskets or else you'll probably get some oil leakage because it cleans sooo good.

If the diesel oil contains too much ZDTP (phosphorous) then you will deactivate the catalytic converter and you will need to buy a new one.

Buy two cans of seafoam.
Break it down like this:
1/3 of the can goes in with fresh oil
The rest of that can is run through the intake twice (1/3 of a can) to clean the heads, the back of the valves,and somewhat of the combustion chamber. Applied through a vacuum line wth the engine running, which is immediately shut off for 10 min. Crank it up and let it run until the smoke screen you put out dies down - then drive it around until it quits smoking. Being sure to hold gears to the revline a few times.


The second can goes in at the gas pump, just before you fill with fresh fuel so it mixes well.
