Hey all, a friend was coming to visit me and blew his head gasket along the way. I'm going to help him replace it tomorrow, but we don't have a tech manual with the head bolt torque specs.
Does anyone have the torque figures for the head bolts? Also, is there a figure for the valve train? Thanks much in advance....

I did know, just forgot to put it in last night. ![]() (Thanks btw for the response) 1-10 22 ft-lbs, then 47 ft-lbs then 11-15 to 72 inch-pounds? We haven't taken it apart yet, so I'm thinking those bolts are a different size to have that much of a difference. Also, this is the 12-valve motor, 3 valves/cyl. Do you know if this is the dohc version, and any specific tricks of note? (I've done inline 6's and V-8's, but they were all pushrod)

No. I'm sorry I miss read the post It's not your falt. forgive the rudeness . your trying to get help the Ga16I is a SOHC . you could call it a bridge motor for the GA16DE 11-15 start at 22ls. than to a max of 72. the book says 56-72 so any where in ther should be fine. tighting them all to 22lbs and loosen than retighten to the 47 for 1-10,and 11-15. trick ? I don't know any on this engine sorry. other than go out and buy a manual just in case you run into somthing you don't know. hope this helps. chip 11-15 to 56-72 lbs.

Re: Friend's 1990 Sentra - blown head gasket
Thanks for you help; but it's for naught. He'd had the head gasket replaced before, and the head is warped. We're going to look for a junkyard motor for him.....
Appreciate the input! Didn't think you were rude.....
