Electric seats shorting? need help
ok guys i bought my car 92 buick centry limited.
the first 7 months i didnt know where the button was for the seats,lmao anyway when i got the car the seats where unplugged under the seats..?? well the other day i went to plug them in.and wow spark and the wires got hot and my car dang near shut down and now my seat is leaning the heck back like im some 17 yr old,lol well im hoping someone can help before i rip out the seats and spend a whole day on this project. screwdriver in hand,lol and do ya think it would be easier to replce them from a junk yard? I love my ride and dont want to mess it up

well, first off it should have blown the fuse before it got wires hot, check to make sure the proper amp fuse is in. That aside it sounds like the the seat motor is bad. Your problem is confined to the seat, how would I know this? Because it did not give a problem until you plugged the seat in. I would try to keep the factory seat, finding one in a junkyard is going to be a poor proposition. It will have set for a while, creatures build nests, moisture gets to electrical parts, you get the picture.But it is up to you.

Now does anyone know how and where i can get one?
and how too put one in i tried looking at the seat like i was going to disassemble it and it looked tuff. Thanks for the help sky
