I've found a fix to 626 performance problems that may help. I had a lean error code and my 4 cyl was dong the hesitation thing when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I had run 3 tanks of injector cleanor with little improvement.

$60 for diagnostics told me I needed a MAF sensor. Here's my fix;

- Dsiconnect negative side of battery
- Get a T20 "tamper proof" torx bit - $2.99 at Autozone
- Disconnect the leads and remove the MAF - it's located between the air filter and the throttle body. Be careful - this is an instrument.
- Get a good magnefying glass and inspect the device. You'll see two litle sensors soldered to posts. Make sure the sensors are clean. Mine were all cruded up.
- If dirty, spray litely and then blow dry with compressed air (gently). Check it again and repeat the cleaning if necessary.
- Check the conections to the little posts. Are they still attached? Yes - good!
- Reassemble & hook up leads - gently again.
- Reconnect battery cable.
- Drive off into the sunset with a smile on your face. You just saved 400 clams.
