Talking Jerks when going shifting from P to D and or OD

96 Taurus Wagon when I shift it from P to D or OD the whole car jerks forward. When we bough the car the guy told us the rear engine mount needs to be replaced. When I replace the mount will that fix my problem, or is this a sign to get rid of the car because of the tranny going bad?

Please Help!! Thank You!!!

Yes it sounds like the motor mount is gone. If you keep doing it you will break the radiator or several other things because the motor is not intened to flex that much.

As far as it going out if there are internal problems the computer will boost the line pressure making it shift hard. You should go have the codes read at autozone to see if it is throwing any

Ive had my 95 for two years with a broken motor mount, and it was doing the same thing. I found that if I let the car warm up for a couple of minutes before shifting into gear it does'nt "slam" into gear.

Hope this helps....
