Re: Oil Leak and white smoke

well the mechani3c did a mix of 20w50 and 10w40 with the ac delco filter.I had it done to a drip last week by adding stp stop leak to it but had to have it changed because i can't go beyond 1500 miles without having to add oil like crazy. So he did that and a fuel filter and those wires i talked about in a diff post.I still get the smoke but i am thinking thats from the seals. He told me to keep an eye on it because its not leaking too much to him but it looks like alot but i think different because of huge puddle and all on the y-pipe.Pcv August of last year with new grommet.Reason i ask for labor is before i talk to a mechanic i want to make sure im not getting taken over because i have two different mechanics that could do it one at 45per hour and one at 25perhour.So like if its a 10 hour job for the rear main seal and valve seals its gonna be alot cheaper at the 25perhour guy

This is bad, you are running really heavy oil AND an leak stopper at one time.

Use the right oil and stop screwing around like this.

Ruining the whole engine because of a leak is retarded. And adding super thick oil to an engine that it doesn't belong in pretty well proves that you need to talk to another mechanic because that one seems to be a little bit of a moron.

The leak is probably caused by the thick oil.

What clor is the smoke on startup? Grey?

Well, fix the real problem and don't bandaid fix it with oil additives.

If you have white billowy smoke, you have a coolant leak.

Re: Oil Leak and white smoke

for a couple of seconds.coolant is full in both radiator and overflow, cap was replaced as precaution and on your recommendation. I am gonna try to find out how much to have it fixed in case the person who might buy it does not.Its not like i can just have it fixed with low income and going to school in the fall. I rather keep feeding it oil even though it does not take any till the 1000 mile mark.

White smoke is not caused from oil.
