1987 jetta gl steering wheel movement

the steering wheel on my 1987 jetta gl has some give to it. i can move it up and down 2-3 inches. this is quite bothersome as i'm driving when making turns it sometimes it pulls up. does anyone know how this can be corrected? it feels as though something is loose and needs to be tightend or adjusted. thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to take to to a steering column repar facility or a dealership it is probably down in the column it self...

thanks for the reply.. any idea how big of a job it is? expensive or just a quick fix?

well actually it could be something as little as a loose bolt or it could be something major it all depends, just hope for the best, but usually anything to do with a steering column with air bags isnt too cheap but look around and find the best place for you and see if they cant take a look at it, good luck and lemme know how it goes...
