compresion ratio limit for NA b16a

what would be the highest compression ratio for a b16a that would be able to use 91 octane pump gas? I saw some itr pistons on ebay and it said the compression would be something like 12.1 in a b16 engine. Is that true and is that too high for pump gas.

12.1:1 would be do-able with the right tuning and 93+

that's a lie. ITR pistons wont bring compression up that high in a B16; infact it might even be lower than the stock B16 compression. JDM ITR pistons in B16= ~10.1:1

its better to drop in some CTR pistons; theyll bring the compression of the b16 to ~11.1:1, which is very streetable.

Re: compresion ratio limit for NA b16a

I am running 11.3-11.5 CR in my B16, and thing that is the safest range for a Daily driven B16a.

though a 12:1 is the absolute limit, but requires alot of tuning to get working Properly.

JDM B18C5 CR in a b16 would be around 10.5:1
JDM B16B CR in a B16 would be around 11.9:1

CTR pistons in a B16 isnt that high(unless you use a thin head gasket)... Katman(hes on H-T i think); took some measurements of various Type-R and other pistons and made a calculator. its somewhere on the internet, ill try to find it.

http://technet.ff-squad.com/cr-calculator.htm might not be that accurate; but it had to closest numbers to what Omniman had(omniman did his own calculations and measurements also; and posted them on H-T)

Re: compresion ratio limit for NA b16a

this one is more accurate sinc it takes the deck height into consideration.
