Re: zc 5spd what goodies?

Clutch SHOULD be the same a 90-91 D16a6... and any d-series (88-00) flywheel will work.

zc's have shorter gears. that will give you better acceleration, but not as high of a top speed or as good of gas mileage. clutch/flywheel will be the same as a 90-91 si tranny.

Re: zc 5spd what goodies?

I had a 90 Si tranny on my ZC and it was great, I loved it... I have driven my Buddies D15b7 MPFI with the ZC and it's quite a High sped tranny.... if you do any highway driving I would consider swaping out the 5th gear for something a little taller (DX 5th) ... but that just me

I ended up doing something similar to my JDM S1 tranny. I was tired of reving at 5500rpm at 120km/h on the highway... so we swapped in a USDM LS 5th gear in the tranny (allong with a new housing and LSD Diff) but that dropped my 120km/h to 3300RPM. now I still Have super short 1 thru 4th but have a nice tall 5th for highway cruising and fuel economy... not to mention a higher top speed.

Re: zc 5spd what goodies?

I have a ZC Tranny on my ZC Engine. For me, it does quite well and Highway crusing isn't that bad unless you plan on cruising 80 MPH. Between 70-75 on the Highway and not being heavy on the pedal, I see nearly 40 MPG in my CRX. Of course the RPM's are a little high for my taste but, that's ok because it seems much peppier than my friends SI and DX (ZC/Tranny Combos).

Re: zc 5spd what goodies?

Well i just did the zc swap and the clutch from and 88 to 90 was diff, the flywheel was to big, we had to get a clutch from a 91 si. but its all in now. i have a zc trany for sale now. we used the si one.
