overheating problem
ok, my friend has a 1992 accord and it overheats at low speeds. everything appears alright and the motor makes no noises to make me suspect anything major... im thinking theres a blockage somewhere in the cooling system, a stuck thermostat, or perhaps a sensor not functioning properly. it was suggested by many people to be a head gasket however, theres no water out the tail pipe and no oil in the coolant or coolant in the crankcase. there is no noise in the water pump and the cooling fans work and turn on by themselves when the motor starts to get on the warm side.... please help. im trying to save my friend a few thousand dollars and weeks of hassels with a mechanic. thank you.

Do the cheap things first like replace the thermostat. The next thing would be to do a radiator descaling and backflush. The best way to do the backflush is with the radiator removed. You can also check the airconditioner condenser to see if the cooling fins qre clogged with bugs and can also reverse blow/wash it if the radiator is removed. Check the radiator fins so see if they are clogged and reverse blow to clean. All this can be done rather cheaply. If this doesn't fix the problem get back to us. If it does fix it, also get back to us.
