brake questions

have a 93 wagon. hubby changed the back brakes on it. was a mess getting them changed, but question now is there seems to be a whistling sound or something coming from them. the sound like it makes if you do need to change brakes. could it be the bearings or what? thanks for any input.

Re: brake questions

When do you hear the sound? If you hear it all the time then you may have a bearing going bad. If you only hear it when you hit the brakes you may need to remove the pads and put what is called brake quiet on the backs. This stops the brakes from vibrating when you hit them and eliminates the noise you are hearing.

Did you have the drums turned?

My '93 has 257,000 miles on it and I still have original rear brakes
